Changed land use practice is one of the greatest threats to biodiversity (Sala et al. 2000). Abandonment and agricultural intensification are regarded as the most frequent land use changes in semi-natural habitats and there has been a dramatic decrease in area of semi-natural grasslands in Europe (Emanuelsson 2009). The aim of this project was to explore how colour infrared (CIR) aerial photographs can be used for monitoring and quantifying of encroachment and intensification in semi-natural grasslands in Norway.

There are no reliable forecasting models available for Sclerotinia stem rot in Denmark today. The German forecasting model SkleroPro was evaluated in Danish field trials in 2007-2009and was evaluated with historical data from 1998 to 2006. Other forecasting models forSclerotinia stem rot were also evaluated, but unfortunately none of them have proven to beuseful in practice under Danish conditions. A survey answered by Danish oilseed growersshowed, that there is a need for a forecasting model in Denmark because they often make aroutine spraying. Their expectation to a forecasting model is that it should give minimum 70percent correct predictions before they will use it.

Worldwide macroalgae production increases every year wheeas in Europe the production has decreased in the last 10 years. The further expansion of the industry depends on a stable access to raw material, development of valuable products and the transfer of expertise between the developed and less developed regions. Therefore, the project NETALGAE aims to create a European network of relevant stakeholders within the marine macroalgae sector. This network is expected to make progress towards developing industrial, commercial and scientific links. The Norwegian macroalgae industry is organized and the management system is well developed.
