The HealthyCucumber project aims to find plant health solutions for challenges related to modern greenhouse production of cucumber in Norway.

Implementation of new technology in greenhouse production, such as semi closed production and LED-lighting, create changes in the greenhouse environment
that in turn affect plants and how they interact with pathogens and pests. Recirculation of water saves valuable resources, but can contribute to spread of disease, such as cucumber green mottle mosaic virus and Pythium.
The project aims to:
1) manipulate climate control factors in the greenhouse to maximize yield.
2) improve integrated disease management of cucumber green mottle mosaic virus (CGMMV) and Pythium using biostimulants and chitosan nanoparticles.
3) predict risk for powdery mildew disease development using modelling and observation data.
4) improve biological control of thrips using modelling and observation data.
Together with our partnerts we will contribute to ensuring plant health management strategies keep
pace with advances in technology and sustainability in greenhouse cucumber production in Norway.
