NIBIO is a project driven research institute and collects approximately 400 million NOK annually in project funding from both national and international sources. A lot of activity is carried out through EU and EEA-projects and we also participate in research projects in Asia, Africa and Latin America. NIBIO coordinates several large international projects with a particular focus on food security and climate change. The list of projects is not complete.
The main goal of the project is to create a knowledge and technology platform for production and use of chicken feed with proteins and polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) from Norwegian microalgae biomass. The project consortium includes the whole production/value chain.
The OceanGreen project aims to restore and protect kelp forests along the Norwegian coast, develop sea urchin removal technologies, and create commercially viable products from harvested sea urchins. It focuses on kelp forest restoration, scalable technologies, sea urchin utilisation, collaboration, and coastal community revitalisation.
