The project focuses on assessing the impacts of climate change on alpine ecosystems in the High North by utilizing historical plant community data. Historical records dating back to the 1950s were first resurveyed in 2010, and a second resurvey in 2025 will provide a unique opportunity to examine changes across three time periods. This approach will reveal temporal dynamics, long-term trends, and potential lags in alpine plant community responses to climate change. Observed changes in vegetation are relevant for nature and biodiversity management and conservation, as well as for the sustainable management of outfield rangelands.
